Tropical Storm Isaac Frequently Asked Questions
I am evacuating due to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac. What should I do with my SCRAMx Bracelet, Base Station, and wireless adapter?
If you are evacuating, please take all of your equipment with you. The SCRAMx Bracelet will continue to test and store data for up to 30 days.
You should continue to wear your Bracelet and follow all protocols, policies, and procedures as outlined by your monitoring agency and/or your Service Provider.
Should I plug my Base Station into a phone line somewhere else?
If you download your data using a Base Station, and if you have electric power, your Bracelet and Base Station will continue to communicate, download, and store the data, even if the Base Station cannot be plugged in to a phone line to upload the data to the SCRAMnet monitoring center. Both the Bracelet and the Base Station can store 30 days of data and test results. As soon as your Base Station connects with a phone line, your data will be uploaded to SCRAMnet.
If you use the wireless adapter to download your SCRAMx data, you will only need electric power for your Base Station and wireless adapter to download the data from your Bracelet and upload it to SCRAMnet.
What if I can’t plug my Base Station into a phone line that will work?
If you have power, you can plug your Base Station into the power outlet, and your Bracelet and Base Station will continue to communicate, download, and store the data. If you are in a hotel or another facility where you are required to use a code to dial an outside line, your Base Station may not work, even if you have an active phone line. Don’t worry, continue to follow all instructions and protocols for your Bracelet and downloads to the Base Station.
What if I am in a location without electric power?
Your SCRAMx Bracelet will continue to operate normally, storing up to 30 days of test results right in the Bracelet.
Once you are able to connect your Base Station to power, it will sync with the Bracelet and upload data to SCRAMnet.
Who should I contact about my evacuation?
First and foremost you should be following any and all instructions from the agency that has ordered you to be monitored by SCRAMx.
You should also contact the SCRAMx Service Provider who manages your SCRAMx Bracelet and ensure that you are following all of their directions, let them know your situation, and ensure they can contact you. They will need to make a note of your situation in SCRAMnet, which will allow both your Service Provider and AMS to accurately notate your situation and report to your monitoring agency. They may also have additional instructions for you to follow relative to your monitoring and reporting.
What if I am on both House Arrest and Alcohol Monitoring?
You need to contact the agency that has ordered your House Arrest monitoring and your SCRAMx Service Provider for further instructions regarding your House Arrest monitoring. The alcohol monitoring component of your Bracelet will continue to operate normally.
